Rkatsiteli fits so harmoniously and has taken root in our region that even the aroma of wine conveys our summer prairie heat with dry grass between the fields of sunflowers.

The Beykush Amphora series appeared in 2020, when our new winery was equipped with a whole galaxy of amphorae of different volumes from several different producers from Spain and Italy, made of different materials. The wines presented are made in these amphorae.

"Aged in a 400-litre Spanish ceramic amphora for one month, this wine is focused and bright, yet possesses depth. It exudes the aroma of white flowers, garden herbs, Earl Grey tea, beeswax, nuts, lemon peel and quince. Approachable and youthful, it captures the essence of a sunlit garden, beautifully blending structure and terroir" - Lilla O'Connor, Decanter Magazine February 2024

Food Pairing: the wine goes well with curries, spicy Asian dishes and dense meat dishes

A Wine of Alexander The Great and Julius Caesar

Amphora Rkatsitely 2022 Beykush
Indulging in this especial Orange wine is reaching back to the Graeco-Roman worlds of Alexander the Great and Julius Caesar. Their wines would have been stored in Amphora. These pottery vessels enhance fermentation and maturation. Such abilities are now being appreciated with Amphora Wines produced in growing quantities. This version uses a Rkatsitely varietal that is ideal for the Amphora grapes month-long skin contact. The results are an eye-appealing golden colour, smoky and spicy bouquet, tannic backbone and powerful aftertaste. Khaire as Alexander would greet the wine and Salute as would Julius Caesar!
